CELEBRATION

Tuesdays & Wednesdays from 17th February -14th October 8:15pm, Matinee Wednesday 12th August 2:30pm 2026

For four decades, a legacy has grown — bold, brilliant and ready to be celebrated. As the Babbacombe Theatre marks its milestone year in 2026 the highly acclaimed shows continue with Colin Matthews once again producing and directing a thrilling production bringing you something old and something new to enchant and entertain you in his 40th year at the theatre.

In a world ruled by technology, live entertainment still holds a special place in our lives. Audiences continue to revel in storytelling — from West End and Broadway musicals to Oscar-winning soundtracks, Grammy-worthy pop anthems, and the comedic gems of classic entertainment.

CELEBRATION brings all of this and more, as a talented cast embrace the true essence of variety in all its forms. Colin’s milestone moments are remembered and reincarnated with a 21st-century brilliance that proves the show — and the legacy — must go on.

A headliner who can keep the audience involved and maintain the merriment is essential, and with Comedy Excellence Award winner Steve Laister, you’re assured of an ENTERTAINMENT factor only he can deliver. Reviewers have often said, “Steve Laister – he should be on the TV.” Perhaps not on television, but what we can promise is Steve doing what he does best: bringing brand-new comedic material and his unmistakable dynamic vocals to the stage.

Our special guest is another audience favourite at Devon’s Number 1 Theatre* — British Magical Champion of Illusion, Daniel Dean. He will amaze and confound with his mystifying stage act. And while his astounding illusions may have your head in a spin, as a versatile entertainer he might just prove equally mesmerising.

Elevating the show’s musical heart, three fan-favourite vocalists return. Lorna Amy Sullivan — a performer in demand worldwide — brings her exceptional talent back to the Babbacombe stage. Paul Cobley, with his rich West End tenor voice, returns by popular demand. And the outstanding actress and vocalist Claire Waring delivers a selection of iconic, show-stopping numbers worthy of any true celebration.

As always, it takes a great team to orchestrate a successful variety show, and CELEBRATION is no exception. Danze Chique — our resident company of dancers — continue to raise the standard each season. Their commitment, paired with the dynamic choreography of Lucy O’Neill and the exciting musical arrangements of Pete Leonard, remains key to the show’s success as does General Manager Sharon Waring who ensures that the dazzling array of costumes enhances every aspect of the production. Last but not least, our junior cast, Kidz & Co,  a starting point for many a career in the theatre for which the theatre is very proud, add their own charm and insist this season, that they Never Grow Up!

Audiences have come to expect a magical and memorable theatre experience, and everyone involved in CELEBRATION hopes that your evening meets every expectation and that you revel in some of the most iconic moments from Colin’s extraordinary journey guiding the Babbacombe Theatre.
